Google Docs adds electronic signature to Workspace Individual

Google Workspace Individual was announced a year ago as an upgrade for one-man businesses that used accounts to run their business. Subscribers will soon have access to electronic signature support in Google Docs.

Whether you’re an event planner or a digital creator, it can be difficult to stay on top of contracts and client agreements that need to be signed as you’re constantly switching contexts and switching between apps. to do your job.

Google touts native e-signature support as allowing you “to quickly execute agreements from the familiar Docs interface without having to switch tabs or apps.” You can drag and drop signature and date fields onto a text document. This feature was only announced and displayed on the web client.

Request a signature: Once you’ve resolved all comments and suggestions, requesting a signature is as easy as sharing a file in Drive.

Add signatures: When ready to sign, the signer can easily add their signature, no download required. Once the signature is added, a completed PDF contract is emailed to both parties.

Monitor and track progress: Quickly view the status of pending signatures and easily find signed and completed contracts.

Create copies of contracts: For signature workflows that need to be repeated regularly, you can streamline the process by creating copies of existing contracts, then modifying them as needed.

Google says Docs eSignature support is “coming soon in beta for individual Google Workspace users.” This tier is currently reduced to $7.99 per month (was $9.99) through October 2022. Other third-party services also integrate with Docs to offer e-signing, and Google says they will continue to operate.
