A culture of experimentation
We challenge our customers to imagine what’s possible — and we hold ourselves to the same standard. We have extended the controlled experiments by more than 300% , which we believe has led to many improvements for customers. As a company, we’ve seen an explosion of the culture of experimentation, with results being shared with company executives through monthly business journals.
In the spirit of experimentation and innovation, we initiated several advances in 2021, including the use of machine learning models for Marketing and Care Services teams. This development expands our use of data to power two major areas of our business.
Creating a technical pole star in terms of high-level architecture promotes autonomy for product and engineering organizations working within their bounded context, while providing rules for interaction that manage complexity between them. We also launched ArchiTalks, an internal monthly series where leading engineers share their innovations, experiences and new tools with the aim of spreading the word about gains and opportunities.
Finally, a new internal open governance Tech Radar sets our direction across programming languages, frameworks, platforms, tools, and techniques. This supports our clients by establishing a path to future success that aligns our teams on common methodologies and technologies.
New products and services
We’re committed to empowering businesses with smarter tools and services that keep them connected with their customers. As the number of platforms for businesses and products to appear on continues to grow, we are working to ensure that our customers can be present with relevant and engaging content. From product photos to point-of-sale promotions, we know our customers need to be ready to sell anything, anywhere, and we’re committed to providing them with the tools and know-how they need to do it, all from one place.
And we don’t stop there. In an effort to build and deepen relationships, we allow customers to engage in chats, texts, and social media posts wherever they are.
New highlights include:
GoDaddy Payments: Our customers are mobile and their customers are mobile. That’s why we put the power of sales in their hands — literally. The update GoDaddy mobile app payment functionality pairs well with our new card reader to accept cards, record cash transactions, and manage and fulfill online orders on the go. This new product represents a historic achievement for the company, which involved completing the acquisition of Poynt and launching a new product in approximately 125 days. It’s a testament to our team’s dedication and commitment to everyday entrepreneurs.

Point-of-sale (POS) hardware: To help our customers sell seamlessly both online and in person through the power of GoDaddy Payments, we’ve introduced two point-of-sale hardware devices: Poynt smart terminal and Poynt card reader.
Smart Terminals are sleek and powerful all-in-one devices ideal for in-store needs. Featuring a dual-screen design, they allow the salesperson and customer to place an order without the need to rotate a screen, and there’s even an easy-to-use docking station to expand capabilities and connect accessories important.
Card readers are ideal point-of-sale devices for our customers who locate in locations where space and ease of use are top priorities – think events, pop-ups, farmers markets and more. This device includes a docking station that allows users to free their hands and provides long-lasting battery life for those extra-long events. This solution is powered by the free GoDaddy mobile app.
GoDaddyStudio: GoDaddy Studio allow app users to easily and quickly create multiple posts with the same look within a single project. In 2021, we added this feature to GoDaddy Studio Web in addition to iOS and Android.
Cats: We are replacing the existing Websites + Marketing (W+M) website messaging widget (currently an email form) with chat features and chatbots powered by Re:amaze. This channel offers W+M customers a customer engagement tool with more channels, deep integrations with business data, automation and chatbots.
Godaddy Pro: We recently launched the GoDaddy Pro Hub. With this priority ticketing solution, users can easily access dedicated support teams for web designers and developers 24/7 through their preferred contact method. A single dashboard allows you to enter and manage support tickets and service requests.
Social Media Calendar: Regularly posting on social media can be overwhelming and time-consuming for small business owners, especially when their passion lies in their small business, not becoming a digital marketer. We decided to make it simpler. W+M now alerts customers to upcoming holidays and occasions and even provides relevant content suggestions and engaging templates to match these events. There’s also a calendar view that makes it easy to create and schedule social posts up to four weeks in advance.
In 2021, we continued to focus on acquisitions by evaluating each opportunity from a strategic, financial and integration perspective.
